About CFAC- Create for a Cause

Colored pencil tips

Hi! Thank you for taking interest in Create For a Cause(CFAC), an art and photography contest to raise awareness and funds to support research, treatment, and management of Pediatric Eye conditions. After initializing this event two years ago, I've decided to pursue it again in an effort to raise as much awareness as possible. This year, not only can anybody (including adults!) enter the online contest by donating $5, we are having a LIVE art competition for Grades K-6($5 participation donation) along with a speech from Dr. David Plager, ophthalmology specialist at Riley, with no entry fee!  The funds will go to the IU School of Medicine for research and more. Why donate to this cause and participate in this event? This event will not only raise funds, but also raise awareness for childhood eye diseases. Some of these conditions include:

  • Strabismus- eye misalignment

    • Occurs in almost 1 out of 20 kids

    • Happens due to weak eye muscles

  • Amblyopia- lazy eye

    • Affects almost 2 to 3 out of 100 kids

    • Occurs because of the brain's favoritism towards one eye

  • Uveitis- inflammation of the iris

  • Glaucoma and Cataracts

As someone affected by Strabismus, I want to help kids with ocular conditions by letting others know that it's not funny or acceptable to tease about someone's eyes . With your help and participation, we will be able to accomplish these goals. Again, thank you for taking interest in Create for a Cause, and I hope you can participate in this impactful event.
